Cake - basic, single cake tin (Mom)

3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1.5 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

Cream butter and sugar in large bowl.
Add egg and beat in a mix master. 
Continue beating while adding milk and vanilla.
Add flour, baking powder, salt and mix by hand
Pour into greased cake tin.
Bake at 350 F for 25 minutes (check toothpick comes out clean).
Let cool for 5 minuted before trying to remove from pan.
