Popcorn Balls (Father's Christmas Special)

1 lb popping corn
3 cups white sugar
1.5 cups brown sugar
3/4 cup corn syrup
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup butter
1.5 tsp salt
3/4 tsp soda

Pop popcorn, and remove unpopped corn. 
Put popcorn into a very large greased container.
Mix sugars, syrup butter and water in a pot. 
Boil sugar mixture to hard ball stage. 
Check consistency of mixture with pices of popcorn.
Add soda and mix and pour over popcorn.
Mix sugar mixture with popcorn.
Form balls of popcorn, and place on wax paper to cool.
